What's the point of not spending for a week? Well, I'm hoping that I will be able to further cut down on our grocery and personal items budget by forcing myself to NOT spend on anything - no matter how great the sale may be. I realize that by doing this I may lose out on some great sales. At the same time, however, I will be forced to look more closely at the staples in my pantry and items in my freezer to plan out meals. It will also ensure that I use the items in my stock pile.

WHOA! My stockpile will become depleted! Well, maybe just a bit. But I have to admit, it did create a little bit of panic in me when I thought about the amount of time I've spent trying to build it up to make sure we had enough items to carry us through the year. My daughters in college also rely on my stockpile. What kind of impact will this have on them?
Then, I think about the potential impact it may have in our long-term finances. I currently spend about $117 per week on groceries and personal items such as toilet paper, shampoos, detergent, etc. If I am successful, I can then pocket that money for an emergency. Hmmmm......that doesn't sound like a lot of money, but what if I did this say.....every 6 weeks? Most sales cycle about every 6 to 8 weeks. That just may work!
Any thoughts out there? Has any one else ever done this? I'd love to hear about your experiences!
